Chemistry

Activated Carbon

Adsorbent

A material that traps molecules on its surface — baking soda, zeolite, and activated carbon's shared mechanism.

Adsorption

The binding of odor compounds to the surface of a material — how textiles trap smell in their fibers.

Ammonia

The sharp, pungent compound released as urine breaks down — the dominant note in litter-box and urine odor.

Amylase

The starch-cutting enzyme — handles the carbohydrate fraction of organic soils.

Biofilm

A bacterial colony embedded in a self-produced slime matrix — protective armor that resists normal cleaning.

Enzyme

A biological catalyst that speeds a specific chemical reaction — in cleaning, matched to a residue type.

Felinine

A cat-specific amino acid in urine that degrades into sulfur odorants — the reason cat urine smells worse with age.

Fragrance

Added scent compounds — used to mask an odor by covering it, not to remove it.

Hydrogen Peroxide
