Organic residue is the material source of pet odor: urine, skin oils, dander, feces, moisture. It lodges in porous surfaces — carpet padding, upholstery, fabric — and keeps releasing volatile compounds for as long as it’s there.
This is why pet odor persists and why the durable fix is removing or breaking down the residue, not masking the smell.
