Molecules light enough to become airborne — the compounds that make up any smell, including pet odor.
A volatile compound is a molecule that evaporates easily and reaches your nose. Pet odor is a mixture of them — ammonia, fatty acids, microbial compounds — released by the residues in your surfaces.
Everything about odor management reduces to this: reduce the volatile compounds reaching the air, which means reducing the residue releasing them.
