Enzyme — Glossary
A biological catalyst that speeds a specific chemical reaction — in cleaning, matched to a residue type.
Enzymes are proteins that accelerate specific reactions. Each enzyme acts on a specific substrate: proteases break down protein-based residue (like urine), lipases break down oils (like sebum), amylases break down starches.
In odor control, enzymes break the residue into smaller compounds that are easier to remove and release less odor — that’s why enzymatic treatment lasts.
