Cleaning — Glossary
The removal of soil and residue from a surface — the first step in odor control, distinct from deodorizing.
Cleaning removes material — soil, residue, deposits. It’s the first step in odor control because it removes the source rather than the symptom. But cleaning alone doesn’t always remove the odor: residue deep in a porous material can keep releasing smell after the surface looks clean.
That’s where deodorizing or a residue-targeting treatment comes in — the second step, not a substitute.
