Carpet Fiber — Glossary
The individual strands of a carpet pile — an enormous adsorbing surface that traps dander and odor compounds.
Carpet fibers adsorb odor compounds across their combined surface area and trap dander and debris physically. The pile is the visible reservoir; the padding beneath it is the deeper one.
Regular vacuuming manages the pile. Residue that has soaked through to the padding needs a penetrating treatment, not just surface cleaning.
