Silica Gel Litter — Glossary
Crystal litter — a porous desiccant that pulls urine moisture into its pore network.
Crystal litter is silica gel — the same desiccant in “do not eat” packets. Its pore network wicks urine moisture inside the beads and adsorbs some odor compounds, keeping the box surface dry.
The pores are finite — when they saturate, the crystals stop working and the smell resumes. Lifespan depends on load.
