Litter Box — Glossary
A cat’s toilet area — the dominant cat-odor source in a home, releasing ammonia from urine and feces residue.
The litter box is the most concentrated, most continuous odor source in a cat home. Urine breaks down into ammonia; feces adds its own compounds; the box walls, the floor beneath, and the wall behind all hold residue.
Daily scooping and weekly washing are the baseline. Placement in a ventilated spot and freshening the room’s air finish it.
