Pet urine is the most persistent odor source in a home. It releases ammonia as it breaks down (the sharp smell), and it leaves uric-acid crystals that lodge in porous surfaces and resist removal.
Fresh urine is far easier to treat than old. Blot it promptly, use an enzymatic product on the residue, and dry fully.
