Activated Carbon — Glossary
Engineered charcoal with enormous internal surface area — the heavy-duty adsorbent for VOC capture.
Activated carbon is charcoal processed to maximize internal porosity — a gram has the surface area of a field. Odor molecules bind to that surface and stay there.
It is the strongest passive adsorbent — in filters and pouches it captures broad VOCs — but it saturates. A full carbon filter stops working until replaced.
