Hypochlorite (Bleach) — Glossary
The aggressive oxidizer in bleach — destroys odor compounds but also dyes, fibers, and produces gas with urine.
Sodium hypochlorite — household bleach — is a strong oxidizer. It destroys odor molecules fast, but indiscriminately: it bleaches dyes, degrades fibers, and reacts with the ammonia in urine to produce irritating chloramine gas.
Bleach on a urine spot is a double failure — it can’t reach the deposit and it generates harmful fumes doing it.
